Raul Garcia

Born in Madrid (Spain), director, scriptwriter, animator and producer Raul Garcia is known for his work in the animation field. Among his latest works are Extraordinary Tales (Award winning animated film-anthology based on Edgar Allan Poe’s most famous stories like The Pit and The Pendulum, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Tell Tale Heart and more) as director-producer, The Missing Lynx (Goya Award Winner for Best Animated Feature, 2008) as co director and The Lady and the Reaper (Academy Award Nominee for Best Animated Short-film 2010) as producer joint effort with Antonio Banderas production company, as well as animator in many of the Walt Disney classics like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan, The Lion King and  Fantasia 2000.

Raul Garcia worked as sequence director for Paramount Studios in feature films like Rugrats in Paris, The Wild Thornberrys and Academy Award Nominee Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius. He also developed Sian-Ka’an, first animated feature film conceived for a bilingual cast in English and Spanish that included the voices of Placido Domingo, Salma Hayek, Alfred Molina, Michelle Rodriguez and Cheech Marin. Raul Garcia has also worked on television, where he developed the animated show Low Standards (Fox TV) and many international advertising campaigns, like the Rotoloni Regina Message in a Roll with Secret Plan Studios.

Raul Garcia has also written two books on animation, La magia del dibujo animado and Actores del lapiz, and is working on a third volume. He is a member of the executive board at the Academy of Motion Pictures Art and Science and serves as member at The American Cartoonist Society, Writers Guild of America and ASIFA Hollywood as well as the Spanish Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science.
